SUMMER
Summer flutters.
Dusty scents:
Pennyroyal, yarrow.
Earth blooms showy
Blue oceans of forget-me-nots
Carpets of poppies
Meadows of primary colors
Soft donkey’s ears.
Naked, stretched
Sun warmed rock.
Lakeside reflection:
Sky granite/granite sky.
Summer flutters.
The child’s net poised
To capture day’s light.
Summer flutters
Late nights
Friends, sun dips, stars descend.
Summer flutters.
Perfect the art of far niente;
First kisses. Fantasy set free.
What I want to be:
A warrior, princess, a lynx.
Summer flutters.
Memories no more complicated than ice cream.
A baby’s body relaxes in crystal clear pond,
Primal pool, watery return.
Summer flutters.
Penstamen, gladiola, hollyhock
Hibiscus garden.
The butterfly of seasons
In paper-thin wings –
The beauty of her design.
