In Darfur

In Darfur, the people still are dying,
Just as before are the torture and rapes,
Over her child, a mother is crying,
Screaming to the boy that wakes.
The wailing women are still bereaved,
Their missing husbands will never come back,
The gullible West is still deceived:
The murderers mass for another attack.

In Darfur, the fear still is there,
The fear that the murderers might come again.
Only the raped can know despair-
For where is hope when in the grip of men?
Lucky is he whose life did not begin,
His mother their fury could not appease.
Darfur's light is still just as dim,
Ruined by war, famine, and disease.
