That day they rode bicycles into the quarter,
the wind knew no rest,
through pirates alley,
four lettered universe of the streetboys,
oceanic numbers no longer,
portships and cruise liners,
cosmopolitan afternoons,
apple martinis by night,
van gogh ear bandage blood,
on piano players fingers.

That day Marian said "Dont ever ask again, why these
things happen."
her eyes were crossed,
she could see into both worlds,
ozzy rules spray painted on a boxcar in silver,
jazz bands behind cracked window,
children in a broken mans face,
open room for rain to dance,
cut free from comfort and pain,
Marian said "this small world cannot contain our dream
and wish."
