For lee

beauty is rare

,How often do kids start piano lessons to make beauty?

How often do you flirt with someone to make beauty?

It is years of struggling with those keys

Or with that person that spark the realization that beauty is there

Or the chance meeting

Bumping into beauty in one chord

Or one stranger.

And suddenly it’s clear that somehow

Beauty is here.

adversity

is a struggle not

your parents or spouse or kids or job or countless

other

things are only made difficult when you make them

it’s not that you should relax

fight five minutes longer

each keystroke

with it’s own distinct sound

is only a letter

if the playing is only

transposing symbols

the real instrument

encased not in wood

in skin

makes and plays and is played

I’m a sensualist

What could I want

Outside

Of

Cool artificial linen feel of this paper

Sliding under my palm

And this cheap ballpoint pen that will write forever

nature

in an illustrious instance

an ink instrument swiftly and smoothly

strikes small circles

and I writes a poem

this shit is awesome

you make poetry

so easy

when I fall in love

it will be never forever

as I could easily

get

back

up

but when I make

it is to create

and even destroying could never be unmaking or faking

emotional passionate sensual

substance from air

with no way ever to get up or repair

I become a poet

Knowing I can make you feel what I felt

good theology

jesus was another man

with nothing left to lose

some of us,

we find,

lose nothing so easily

another man

to lose the "jesus" for us

Me 26

love is when

absence makes me die

and I refuse to

while remains any feelings of you

and while they may become sensation

fading to déjà vu

my feelings never die

and for you

nor will I

you 15

we were together in so many…

huddled by the railroad tracks

sitting on the hard gravel under the ties

snuggling together with a 200 year old black walnut

walking along a dead tree

over a river…

or slapping mosquitoes at the reservoir

no matter where, it felt right with you
