A Drowning Man
A Drowning Man
They say a drowning man relives his life.
How can I know I am not reliving mine as I drown?
It is, by logic, this time before death
When multitudinous neurons starve
in biologic capitulation.
If life is real, once over
It will seem a dream of something else,
And memory like sea lanterns extracted from depths will
rise and brighten then
Slip down through darkness, forever.
