Road Rage

a book, balancing on my head
wavering, never striking the floor
as I walk, crowned by its pages
on a high wire
no net
i am immobilized- frozen midway across
paralyzed and terrified of what i
will soon discover
judgments, delivered
like subpoenas
my day in court is approaching
just around the bend, in the
speedway
as i try not to crash and burn
my unequipped
racecar
