I wish I was a bee
so I could sting
your heart until it bleeds
so as it drains
and you are left a prune
your thoughts would be
of me
On the day you turned away
and I was left
holding the door
ajar- de par en par
with nothing left to say
but "wait"
and yet biting my tongue
I wish I was a bird
so I could fly
as far away and fast
as I can think
of a new place where I
could start
a life
Without the modern complications
without feeling paralyzed
by the obligations
of a conceived destination
and all that settling
implies
I wish I was the highest peak
along the country side
an active volcano
along the coast line
I wish I was intangible, an abstract
so I could stand untouched
by the word of man
