Final Struggle

In childhood, I did not foresee this day
This life would turn into unending night.
Therefore, in childhood, I would wish to stay.

So in my aged form I bend to pray
That God would take my soul into the light.
In childhood, I did not foresee this day.

To see again the blooms of early May
And to enjoy every single sight.
Therefore, in childhood, I would wish to stay.

My head is nodding and the world is gray.
I try to stay awake with all my might.
In childhood, I did not foresee this day.

The years gone by were spent a wistful way.
I wish I had again my former height.
Therefore, in childhood, I would wish to stay.

I'm being called into that sacred ray
Where time has ended it's eternal fight.
In childhood, I did not foresee this day.
Therefore, in childhood, I would wish to stay.
