Half moon Street

What can be said, about this place?
a seminary,perhaps,a haven yes.
a home from home for Sassoon's verse,
a resting truthful,daring den.

It was a place of oracles,
where Rosse and Graves and
others like dead man Thomas,
Brooke and Douglas,
might have caught the air.

How little places,gatherings round,
its shells providing space,
for greater things,
and lasting verse.

under half-moon street
a theme was born and birthed,
a London place,where
among the chatter and the class
the pen was mightier than
the sword of all those dead,
war poets,who gave their lives,
sensitively for that cause.

Longer lasting,living more than stone
these monuments of half moon street.
more than a place,
an embryo of words
sharper than clashing steel
