LIKE SILENCE
As we fly through space and time,
Counting off the trips around our Star.
Our love still speaks like silence,
We still stand at the brink of who we are.
Ups and downs and straight-a-ways,
Turning with ease to the tops of pages.
Tumbling with the issues that made us
While we prepared them for other ages.
We rise and fall with the tides,
We come together in the dark,
Feeling the breath of life,
Folding over and over till we forge the spark.
Flying faster yet slower now,
The universe holds our hands.
We are what we have become
One and each at peace on silent sands.
Who knows what might have been.
What wonders lay on distant, dusty shelves.
We speak to the ages in silent roar.
The only sound to become ourselves.
We are the beginning of a future.
Keepers of a Star left burning as before
For intrepid, wandering, silent lovers
Who fly through space and time,
Till space and time exist no more. |
