Rain

Nestled deep in blanket warmth
Cocooned within these walls
Sanctuary from the gloomy chill
Alone with my thoughts
An isolation I would gladly lose

Upon the roof and outer walls
Faint knockings scarcely heard
Call my attention outward
To hear the rain’s soft voice
Tip-tapping at my shriveled world

Faster, dripping tempo builds
Achieving soothing patter sound
A balm, filling up the lonely silence
As one by one dark thoughts
Slip away and drown
