Margaret E. Haugen
Reunion of Souls

I look into your eyes
And see the demons
Of your past
As they writhe
Behind your eyes

Then your soul shines through
The web of demons within
And my spirit speaks to yours
Though I knew it not
At the time.

To Charles Kux-Kardos

Sunset Over Los Angeles

Los Angeles

In all its glory
The setting sun reflects
From the windows
Slashing my eyes
As I walk down
Those city streets.

Los Angeles

Assaulting my senses
I mingle with the exhaust
It chokes me
Neon lights swim before my eyes
My vision is clouded now
As I look to the sky

Yes

It's a good place
To die.

Los Angeles

I feel my life’s blood freeze
My eyes dim
My old life seems so far away
Here in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles

The sun has set long ago
The sky is filled with stars
They dance out of control
Somehow nothing matters to me anymore .
